I read Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson. Written about the yellow fever epidemic in 1973, this book contains factual information about the time period. It relays the information through a fictional story, and therefor makes the facts stick more effectively. I enjoyed this book.
I read Eclipse by Stephanie Meyer. This book is about a clan of young vampires that crave human blood, and kill many innocent humans to satisfy their needs. The Cullen clan opposes this, and their goal is to destroy the clan. This novel is filled with romance, action, and has a good message: good wins over evil. I highly recommend this book.

With ghost stories from "The Ghost Deer of Roanoke" to "Blackbeard's Cup", this book features some especially interesting stories since they take place right here in North Carolina. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone. To be specific, I would really recommend “The Ghost Deer of Roanoke”, “The Pirate Lights of the Pamlico Sound”, “The Flaming Ship of Ocracoke”, and “Blackbeard’s Cup”. Over the summer, I read A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks. It was about a good looking popular guy, Landon Carter, who falls in love with the ministers daughter, Jamie Sullivan, unexpectingly during his senior year of high school. This novel takes place in Beaufort, NC during 1958. Jamie changed Landon's life by showing us all how we should live our lives - live like you have a limited time left to live.
I read Twilight by Stephanie Meyer this summer. It told the story of how a quiet girl falls in love with a dangerous vampire, and how they had to fight for each other. It was a really sweet book. Hey Guys!
I read the book Public Enemies ( yes i know its a movie) which was about the years of the War on Crime. Even though the book was more of a historical novel, I really enjoyed it. When I was reading it, I felt like I was there while John Dillianger was robbing a bank or Bonnie and Clyde fleeing in their car shoting at police officers. There was so much action I kept having to tell myself, "This is a nonfiction book".
I really suggest reading it ( if you are into crime and robberies) cause with all the action, you also get to learn how and why we have the FBI today. It was a great book and I really enjoyed it.
whoops!

This book was very interesting and very different from anything else I have ever read.

I read A Seperate Peace by Jon Knowles. It was about two young boys growing up at a military school and having there on wars but more peaceful than the real war. One thing this book showed me was friendship, even though you might think someone is your bestfriend, they can do something that can injure you for the rest of your life.
This summer I read (or rather, re-read) Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Everyone probably knows what this book is about, but just to clarify for those who haven't heard of this world renowned story, the basic plot is of witches and wizards, in a world like ours, split between good and evil. The main character, Harry Potter, a mere child marked at birth as "the Chosen One", is pitted against the most powerful dark wizard in history, Lord Voldermort. Long story - and I mean a VERY long story - short, good triumphs over evil because darkness cannot understand light: faith, hope, and most importantly love. This series is rich in religious and historical allusion, figurative language, symbolism, and in almost every literary element ever utilized by any author in all of time. Its a wonderful story and allegory, and I highly recommend it to anyone who has not already read it.
-Logan Beyer, 3rd period
I read Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. This book is about a girl's life in the 1700's and how she rebels against the molding of the "perfect lady" that her mother tries to make of her. It's freakishly relevant to the way people still think today. This novel includes boy drama, romance, a weird but funny sense of humor, romance, amazing language/word usage, and more romance. If I had to describe it in one word it would be "chick book", but its still worth reading. :-D
Tyler Gibson- Over the summer I read Into The Wild. It was a decent book but it got a little boring in places and made you want to stop reading. Other than the slow places it was a very interesting novel about a guy running away from home and traveling the country on foot. Overall I would recommend this book

This article was very interesting to me, because I am a fan of history. I tried to imagine what it would have been like, back then, to actually know Jesus Christ. This article captivated my attention, which is very hard to hold on to. In other words... I enjoyed this article tremendously.

I read Why is the Foul Pole Fair? by Vince Staten. This book answers some of baseballs most perplexing questions. If you like baseball it is funny and interesting.
Over the summer i was a avid reader of Golf Digest. I read this magazine so I could learn more about golf and tips that I didn't know already and use them to practice and for many situations on the golf course. I am not a big reader I read the news paper some and some magazines but that is about it so it was nice to find something I was interested into read. There are also many stories on professional golfs that I like to read about, that can be very intresting and inspiring.
For my outside reading I read the book Girls in Trucks by: Katie Crouch. In this book Sarah Walters the protagonist is a memeber of a club that is a little old fashioned. It is like cottilion classes now a days which is where you go and listen to lectures about the polite ways to live your life and do dances. They have two rules that you do not chase men and buses and you also should not be seen around town in trucks. Throughout the novel there are times that it becomes hard to stay in this club like her grandma and mom did. When she moved from South Carolina to New York. She tries yo run off with a boy in a pick up and she goes wild and crazy. Later she realizes she has no place there and goes back home where she belongs. The one and only person that can lead her in the right way is her mom. She teaches her that once you are a Camellia you will never be able to not be a Camellia. This book taught me that sometimes there are things that you can not get away from and somehow another they are going to get back to you.
